Casimir Pulaski Day

when winter began to leave
and the steam came out of the ice cold water
almost as if to say "we'll be seeing eachother very soon..."
the song reflects what these photos try to convey with a sense of:
calmness - peacefulness - and darkness with a little bit of light at the very very end
i hope that made sense
comments are welcome. i'd love to hear anything at this point :)

Set The Dark On Fire

Black Sheep

1. Personally designed iPod cover - I was watching the movie Black Sheep starring Chris Farley and David Spade one night when i looked at my plain iPod case and nail polish pens and thought, maybe its time for an experiment? So as you can see, this is what wonderfulness came after an hour an a half into the movie! i now have a new case and cant wait until that moment of creativity strikes again!

2. Placed in Peace and Space (my title for it) - Mandala assignment for advanced art class earlier this year. i used a mish mash of creative things to make it. Cut-out parts, crayons, markers, paint, pens, sharpies even nail polish! :)

3. Mini Munny i bought at an art store last month. Finally finished (for now?) painting it, yes all with NAIL POLISH!
i will post more nail polish creations later when i find the rest of the cell phone covers!

Junior Year 2nd Semester Art Final

My advanced art class was told to do a diptych or triptych that focused on social issues for our spring art final. I chose to do a diptych about war, mainly on the Vietnam War. The Lyrics from The Killers song All These Things That I've Done, inspired me and i drew a theme of war, rebellion and the fight for peace from it. This piece was a little different from the hardness i had been trying to work more to this year but my art teacher said that people preferred my cartoon and childlike style as opposed to the more sophisticated style i was working harder to achieve.
Seeing as how this was my last piece i finished before the start of summer, she said i had some work to do in choosing wether i wanted to go into the path of 2D art next year or stick with drawing and painting. I have 59 days left to make that decision not to mention start and finish my 5 art pieces for homework!!! If you have any insight from any pieces of mine that tell you what path i should choose, don't be shy to tell me!

Up Untill Now: The Last Bits of The Art Portfolio

All of This Feels Strange and Untrue and I Wont Waste a Minute Without You

Today is a gloomy day to be off of work, but at least i can hope for a sunny and hot Tennis practice since it is summer :)
Just watched a rerun episode of Greys Anatomy which made me think when this song by Snow Patrol came on in the background...I think this will be part of the AP art homework i do this summer!
I'm really feeling this song because of not only what the lyrics clearly are saying but that love and desire and even loss are relatable subjects. The imagery on the music video is intoxicating, mysterious and artistically done as well. The closeness to the street, makes the viewer feel as if they could be flying over it, navigating through what looks like a European road during the mid morning hours. The constant navigation through streets and alleyways make it seem like a chase or a search to find that lost love or at least the thing one desires the most. And that is why songs like these, are a key inspiration to my creative way of thinking and everyday living.

Keep The Car Runnin

I recently discovered how much i've missed Pier 1 Imports and it's inspiring designs on pillows, set-ups and yes...take-out glitter boxes.
Today's song that reminded me of this was Keep The Car Running by Arcade Fire.
The boho feel and instrumental part from the piano and other banging and clapping noises  gave it a kind of bohemian but modern feel, like Pier One Imports new stuff! :)
